Presidents’ Award
Instigated by the late Pat Quinn during her Presidency, the Presidents’ Award is presented by the president to the member they feel has made a significant contribution to the Society, either now or in the past.
Society president Panny Laing chose John and Pat Stanley of the Blackbrook herd as her recipients. When presenting the award Panny said, ‘all of us aim to promote the Longhorn breed and hopefully improve our own stock but some breeders have gone way beyond what any of us could ever aspire to - winning countless championships and working tirelessly to put the breed on the national and international map. To honour what they have achieved I am delighted to present the President’s Award to Pat and John Stanley’. A visibly shocked and moved Pat Stanley thanked Panny for the award and commented that, ‘the Longhorn is the most amazing breed and I am proud to have played a small part in it’s success’.
The award was made even more special as the cow, by sculptor Nicola Toms, was based on Pat’s cow Natasha.
